Technical questions about the app
WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO RUN THE APP?
To use our app, your phone needs to be operating on at least iOS 13 or Android 8. This is because we work with sensitive personal data and we want the app to be as secure as possible. Unfortunately, older operating systems cannot guarantee the security we require for the app, which is why we do not support them.
The It's My Life app registers physical activity through a connection with an activity tracker or fitness app. Activity trackers from Garmin, Fitbit and Apple are compatible with the It’s My Life app. Besides these wearables, you can also use your phone as your activity tracker. In that case you can istall and use Google Fit on Android or Apple Health on iOS.
Do you not have the option to use one of the aforementioned activity trackers? Please contact your manager so that we can think of a solution for you

HOW DO I CONNECT MY ACTIVITY TRACKER?
Not every phone has a pre-installed physical activity tracker. All smartphones have the hardware to count steps, but not always the software. If you have an Android phone, you must first install Google Fit. Only then you can use your phone as an activity tracker for our app. With iOS, the Apple Health app is pre-installed on your phone. You can connect this app to the It’s My Life app, but since ‘Health’ is not enabled by default you have to activate it first. Only after activating Google Fit or Apple Health can you use your phone as an activity tracker
WHAT DOES THE IT'S MY LIFE APP DO?
The It’s My Life app revolves around encouraging healthy behaviour by motivating users to sit down less and exercise more (walking or cycling). The app tries to gain insight into your daily activity and rewards you for exercising
HOW DO THE STATISTICS WORK?
The statistics can be found on the third tab in the It’s My Life app. You will notice that statistics here are primarily based on averages. Averages are calculated over the last 30 days and give you an insight into your 'score' compared to your community and peers. Here you can also find your balance of activity and inactivity over the past 7 days.
Your inactivity is expressed in minutes per day. If you sit down for more than 30 minutes, the timer in our app starts to register every minute from that moment onwards as inactivity. We focus on prolonged inactivity, which is unhealthy and comes into effect after you have been inactive (sitting or lying down) for half an hour. During this inactivity your heartbeat slows down, so that oxygen and nutrients are transported more slowly through your body and to your brain. Also, due to changes in the hormonal balance in the body, more fat is stored than burned. That’s why the app counts the inactive minutes from 30 minutes onwards. When inactivity is interrupted, the app restarts counting up to 30 minutes. Do you interrupt the inactivity during those first 30 minutes? Then the timer restarts again and you can be inactive for another half hour without it being counted. By calculating this way, we try to encourage you to consciously move every now and then and give your body the boost it so desperately needs. Inactivity is only measured between 07:00 and 23:00

HOW DOES THE SCOREBOARD WORK?
At the bottom of the statistics tab you will find two scoreboards. This scoreboard is disabled by default to protect your data according to the GDPR legislation. You can turn the scoreboard on in your account settings and compete with your colleagues and community members. The scoreboard shows you who is number 1, as well as the two participants above and below you in the rankings. You will see a green arrow if you have moved up in the rankings and an orange arrow if you have moved down.
On scoreboard 1 we keep the rankings of highest average number of steps walked. To calculate this, we use the average number of steps all members have taken during the past 30 days.
On scoreboard 2 we keep track of who has made the biggest progress in the past 30 days. In this case, the app compares the number of steps you took yesterday and compares that to your average number of steps during the previous 30 days. Did you take 5,500 steps yesterday and your average before that was 5,000? If so, you have made a 10% progression and therefore are likely to be quite high up the rankings

WHAT IS ON THE COMMUNITY TAB
The community tab gives you access to the average figures in your community. With the It's My Life app, we have chosen to make all data as transparent as possible, which means that both you and your community manager have access to the same data. In the community tab, you will find your community averages, the community ranking and weekly data. Are you curious about your community? Then be sure to visit this tab
WHAT IS THE FIT INDEX?
Exercise has a positive effect on your health. To measure whether this is the case for you, we ask you to fill out the Fit Index. This is a rating, based on how you experience your own health. From time to time, we will repeat this question to give you insight into whether your health is improving. Your personal score will ALWAYS remain private, but it will be used to calculate the average Fit Index of your community. This average is visible in the community overview, but only when the community consists of 15 or more members. This way, your data remains safe
WILL MY STEPS BE COUNTED IF I HAVE THE AEROPLANE MODE ON?
A little less radiation is good for you, so switching your phone onto airplane mode every now and again is a good idea. And not to worry: your mobile phone always counts your steps, even when you are not connected to the internet. Only if you want to upload these steps to the It’s My Life app, you need an internet connection; you need the internet to upload the steps you have taken from Google Fit or Apple Health to our app. The same goes for using a wearable activity tracker, such as Garmin or Fitbit. Again, you only need a connection when you decide to upload your steps to the It’s My Life app.
Common issues
I HAVE NO/LESS STEPS IN MY ACCOUNT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Sometimes an update or change in settings can cause a connection problem. Your mobile starts counting your steps instead of your Apple Watch or only half of the number of steps you have taken are being registered in the app. In most cases, this can be solved very quickly and simply. Follow the steps below for each activity tracker and you'll be on your way again in no time.
Step 1: Open the It's My Life app. In the app, go to settings in the top right corner and then to ‘stappenteller instellingen’ > ‘stappenteller instellingen’. In the It's my life app, choose ‘stappenteller vervangen’ in the menu.
Step 2: Then find the activity tracker you are using below, and follow the steps accordingly.
Google Fit
Open Google Fit and look in the top right corner of your profile. Find your linked email address here, note that this may be a different email address to the one you use for the It's My Life app.
Open the It's My Life app again and go via settings to ‘stappenteller ‘instellingen’.
You can select the option to pair a new activity tracker. Choose the Google Fit option.
Then follow the steps to reconnect your Google Fit. When carrying out these steps, make sure you select the Google account that you previously used to install your Google Fit app. Next, grant the requested app permissions. We need these permissions to successfully complete the steps. Do you get the choice between your Smartphone or a Watch when pairing? Choose your smartphone.
Apple Health
Open Apple Health and look in the top right corner of your profile. Find your linked email address here, note that this may be a different email address to the one you use for the It's My Life app.

Open the It's my life app again and go via settings to ‘stappenteller instellingen’. You can select the option to pair a new activity tracker. Choose the Fitbit option.
Follow the steps to reconnect your Fitbit. Make sure you log in using the email address that you previously used to set up your Fitbit app. Next, grant the requested app permissions. We need these permissions to successfully get the steps in.
Step 3: If the connection has been re-established successfully, you will see your activity tracker instead of a question mark. You do not need to click on 'stappenteller vervangen’ again, but can return to the main menu on the top left. Then click on the cross in the top right to return to the main screen.
Google Fit/Apple Health
Now go to the main screen (where you’ll find the circle with your earnt Fitcoins) and check if you see blue balls moving at the top. These should disappear within 3 minutes. After the balls have disappeared, check whether your Fitcoins have been credited by swiping down briefly. The balls will reappear briefly and your Fitcoins will be updated. You should also see steps and inactivity in last week's statistics. Do the balls keep moving? Please let our helpdesk know via [email protected], so we can solve the problem together.
Garmin/Fitbit
Now go to the Garmin/ Fitbit app and synchronise your activity tracker with the It’s My Life app. Wait 15 minutes and then open the It's My Life app again. Your Fitcoins should now be updated. You should also be able to see your steps and inactivity in last week’s statistics.
Is this not the case? Try again later in the day, it can sometimes take a bit longer for the first connection to be made. If that doesn't work either, please let our helpdesk know by sending an email to [email protected], and we will solve the problem together.

I HAVE LOST ACCESS TO MY ACCOUNT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Sometimes an update or change in settings will cause you to be logged out and unable to log back in. This may be due to a lost password or due to how your data is being stored to your mobile phone. In the steps below we explain how you can log back onto the app as quickly as possible.
If you have an Android phone, it is likely that you are facing the storage issue. Android devices deal with memory in a slightly different way than iOS devices and therefore store things incorrectly sometimes. This problem can be solved quickly by clearing the working memory (cache) of the It's My Life app.
Step 1: Go to your phone settings and find 'apps' in the menu.
Step 2: Find the It's my life app, click on it, and open the app's storage menu.
Step 3: Scroll down and look for the button 'delete data'.
Step 4: Delete the data from the It’s My Life app and restart the It's My Life app
Step 5: Enter the email address with which you set up your It’s My Life your account.
Step 6: Enter your password and press continue. Please note that if you have to enter your first and last name, you are creating a new account and have not entered the correct email address.
Step 7: If the login is still unsuccessful, press 'cancel', then go back and the 'Forgot password' button will appear.
Step 8: Press the button, fill out your email address and you will receive a recovery link in your email.
If you still can't get into the It's My Life app after following these steps, please contact [email protected]. We are happy to help you get back on track

Questions about the Fitcoin programme
HOW DO YOU EARN FITCOINS?
There are several ways to earn Fitcoins with the It’s My Life app. In a nutshell: you can earn Fitcoins with walking, running and cycling. For every 1,000 steps you take, you will receive 1 Fitcoin. You will also receive 1 Fitcoin for every 10 minutes of cycling.
You can earn Fitcoins by participating in (social, sporting, educational or cultural) activities organised by providers or your employer.
You can earn Fitcoins by participating in (social, sporting, educational or cultural) activities organised by providers or your employer.
HOW CAN I SPEND MY FITCOINS?
You can spend your Fitcoins in the Fitcoin-shop, which you will find in the main menu of the app. Every community can have a different offering in their Fitcoin-shop, depending on the items providers and employers add exclusively for their community. Have you seen an item you like the look of and want to buy? Click on the item and read the description and purchase process carefully. This explains how you will receive the item you purchased.
I ALREADY DO A LOT OF SPORTS, BUT THAT IS NOT REGISTERED ON THE APP. CAN I EARN FITCOINS WITH SPORTS TOO?
It's great that you do a lot of sports, we love that! The app only measures your steps when you walk or run. If you do sports that require running or walking, you can keep your phone in your pocket or wear a Garmin, Fitbit or Apple Watch during your training to register the steps you take during your sports session. If you do sports that don’t require running or walking such as yoga or swimming, earning Fitcoins won’t be possible unfortunately.
Questions about data and privacy
WHAT ABOUT PRIVACY?
Privacy of your data is our number one priority. We use the latest software and update the app when new security requirements arise. You are the owner of your data at all times. This means that when you would like to delete your account, all your data will be deleted. We do not have back-ups in this case. We also never share your data with third parties, unless you give us explicit consent to do so.
We do use anonymous data to calculate averages within your company or organisation so that we can track progress. These averages only become visible with 15 participants or more, so that these data can never be traced back to individual persons.
When purchasing items from the Fitcoin-shop, it is possible that your contact details (email, first name and surname) will be forwarded to the provider of the item concerned. In this case, the seller needs your details to contact you about the purchased item.

WHAT DATA IS USED?
The It's My Life app only works with relevant data, such as the number of steps you take and the number of inactive minutes. We measure this data with apps from Garmin, Fitbit, Google Fit and Apple Health. With these apps, you can turn your activity tracker or mobile phone into a calculating wonder, giving you insight into your exercise behaviour. Although we only store exercise (movement) data, sometimes an app needs access to location services. This does not mean that we store your location, but it is only required to enable the reading of movement data
WHICH OF MY DATA ARE VISIBLE?
The employer and the app administrators cannot see who, when and how much someone is running. Even if you have set the app to public, you will only see the names of the two colleagues who are ranking just above and below you. You can also see how many steps your own community has taken in total, but never individually.
The community manager(s) can see which items you have purchased in the Fitcoin-shop, but only in your own community.
